Great Community

If you long to live in a place where people still care about one another, look out for each other’s children and come together in times of celebration and need, then the General McLane community is for you. General McLane’s community unity is one of the unique attributes that makes GM not only one of the best places to live in Erie County, PA, but it is a huge support for our schools.

Hundreds of district employees and residents participated in focus groups that identified “community” as the top core value of the district that helps make our schools some of the best schools in Erie County, PA.  In context, ‘community’ is defined as “a group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists.”

This distinction, our McLane Advantage, is the cohesiveness and support of our school district and its mission by the people that surround and galvanize us, our community.

The district’s unique small-town atmosphere provides safe neighborhoods and large acreage homes without traffic congestion, noise and pollution. . .  a locale that imparts an ideal place to have and raise children.

Opportunities for all-season recreation are abundant, including municipal parks, ski resorts, and Edinboro Lake.  A number of multi-cultural and learning opportunities are enhanced by the presence of Edinboro University.

The community is essential, for alone our vision is too narrow to see all that must be seen. Together, our vision widens and strength is renewed.
