Great Access

One of the unique features of the General McLane School District that makes it one of the best schools in Erie County, PA is access to many cultural, educational and recreational opportunities in and around Erie, PA.  Within the district are two exits to Interstate 79 and one exit to Interstate 90.  The Erie International Airport is available for air transportation.  Residents can drive to downtown Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo in as little as 90 minutes.

The city of Erie is a 15-minute drive and is host to the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Playhouse and several art museums, which makes GM a great place to live.  The city also hosts OHL  hockey, UIFL football, AA MLB affiliate baseball and NBA D-league basketball teams.  One of the state’s gems, Presque Isle Peninsula and State Park, is a frequent and popular destination for families in the district and across the country.

A forty minute drive from the district will get residents to the Chautauqua Institute, the nation’s oldest institution for life-long learning.  Each summer, the Institute sponsors nationally known speakers, artists, dancers, musicians and thinkers in historic  surroundings situated on  beautiful Lake Chautauqua.
